Individual Therapy: Dr. Humes works with both individuals and families in a holistic manner to improve the daily lives of not just the patient, but the whole family. Whether providing individual and/or family therapy, emphasis is placed on the importance of viewing the identified patient as functioning in multiple environments (i.e. individual, family, community, etc.). Utilizing an integration of Cognitive-Behavioral (CBT), Interpersonal, Dynamic, and Solution Focused Therapy techniques, Dr. Humes aims to provide interventions aiding each patient in improving all areas of their life.
Anger Management: Dr. Humes has many years of experience working with adolescents and adults to help improve their ability to manage anger and aggression, improve social and interpersonal skills, and improve success in school, family, and community settings. He is certified in Anger Replacement Training (ART) and has worked with patients to manage anger and aggression in multiple settings, such as adult and adolescent psychiatric hospitals, residential treatment programs, correctional facilities, and outpatient settings. Utilizing CBT techniques, environmental modifications, behavioral cycles, and techniques taken from ART groups, patients are able to learn the progression of anger, triggers, and coping techniques to effectively manage anger and aggression.
Psychological Evaluations: Comprehensive and diagnostic psychological evaluations are available upon request or referral. Evaluations may consist of evaluating patient’s personality characteristics, cognitive or intellectual abilities, risk for violence, suicide, etc., or specific diagnostic symptoms (such as Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Depression, etc.).
